Shared Investment in Your Future
Business school is an investment that will pay off in the future. HBS supports this investment with need-based scholarship programs for both domestic and foreign students. HBS Scholarships do not require repayment. HBS offers need-based scholarships to approximately 50 percent of its students. The average scholarship amounts to $46,000 per annum, or $92,000 in total.
HBS has announced that in August 2022 it will award full scholarships to students who have the most financial need, and new scholarships will be offered to more students of middle-income backgrounds.
How is the need determined?
The team that provides financial assistance determines need by evaluating the following factors.
- Gross revenue from the previous three years
- Socioeconomic Background
- Undergraduate debt
All students receive scholarships based on the same formula. Higher-earning students contribute more than those with lower earnings. If you have children or are married, we will also take into account a portion your spouse’s assets and income.
Each package of financial aid is unique and can include a mixture of need-based scholarship and student loans. HBS Complementary Fellows provide additional funding to some HBS students. HBS students can use their personal savings or outside funding to cover the remaining costs of their MBA as part of a shared investment.
Financial aid does not consider employer sponsorship or loans as scholarships. HBS Scholarships are not available to students who receive loans or sponsorship from their employers.
Financial Aid encourages you explore other funding options, such as external scholarships, student loan programs, and Complementary Fellows, to supplement your need-based HBS scholarship and cover the cost of attendance.
